The Warehouse Gallery
The Warehouse Gallery is a contemporary arts space founded in 2009 to host emerging artists alongside established artists.
Utilizing the 3,000 square foot warehouse space, Kevin Keul and Lili Smith created a large gallery and multimedia room.
We are genre un-conformists, instead focusing on themes and special events. At The Warehouse Gallery, a variety of artwork will be exhibited: classical, experimental, performance, video, installation, and anything that can be experienced.
The gallery is as diverse as the talents which show. In other words, we are the peoples' gallery.
The Warehouse Gallery is located in the San Antonio district of Oakland. We are by appointment only, with events about every two months.
The first two rules of art and science; The truth at any price including the price of your life and look at things right under your nose as if youve never seen them before, then proceed from there.
Howard Bloom
Awareness (mindfulness)
Authenticity (genuine)

Action
Unique Markings
TRUE ART can only be TRUE if created with an awareness that only the creator can achieve through mindfulness by paying attention to where the creation takes them and where they are taking it. No mere school of thought, style, form, technique, skill, non-skill, subject, no subject, niche markets, investors, politics, religion, countries, companies, science, media, rules, roles, culture or fashion can take the TRUE ARTIST there, only a TRUE ARTIST can by being aware and being present in their being.
A young painter who cannot liberate himself from the influence of past generations is digging his own grave.
Van Gogh
In creation SELF TRUTH is UNIVERSAL TRUTH. What you create must be authentic or it is not TRUE ART. No level of TRUTH can ever be sought by the disingenuous creator that thinks so low of what they are doing that it has become a game or a sport or a market. Whosoever would give all their passion and heart to a lie or a game should stay far away from art.
I have tried to do what is true and not ideal.
Henri de Toulouse Lautrec
Everything depends on the intention of the creator. The integrity of the process, the creator and what is created depends on intention. The intention may be discovered in the creation but is always present in TRUE ART. The creation is the artifact of intention. Without an intention what remains is mere art-supplies, art-speak and acting out. The term artist has become synonymous with gimmicks, mental illness, tricks, illusions and deception. Artists know in their hearts they should reach for TRUE ART but oftentimes choose to abandon new possibilities for the safety and comfort of their culture and peers ideals. A TRUE ARTIST has no choice but to reach for TRUE ART. Dispassion is not intention. Intention is everything.
The artist, in creating, learns much that he did not know before. But an art which does not reveal mysteries, which does not lead to the sphere of the Unknown, does not yield new knowledge, is a parody of art, and still more often it is not even a parody, but simply a commerce or industry.
P.D. Ouspensky, A new Model of the Universe
Action is the manner of movement only the creator reaching for TRUE ART can achieve by doing. Call it magic, soul, heart whatever but it is only achieved by the action of the magician, adventurer and pioneer of art. Action causes an equal or opposite reaction and most artists fear TRUE reactions. The TRUE ARTIST is fearless. The creator must trust their vision, voice and instinct. Pay no attention to those who would dictate or discourage they have a safe position to defend. The freedom of action is always a threat to inaction or repetition. No TRUE ART creation would ever take place if the creator believed it was in the eye of the beholder. Who is this beholder and what is he/she beholding to? The past? Sanctioned isms, art schools and critics discourage TRUE ART because it cannot be controlled. TRUE ART is a place of action and is at odds with the sanctioned institutions and cultures that lose their power, authority and budgets the second TRUE ART is created. Why has it gotten to the point that the views and passions of the artist are dismissed while the experts control all aspects of arts place in society? Artists should also take action in how art manifests after the creation. Institutional dictators have taken action to silence the artist and the public debate over TRUE ART. The prisons they have created for TRUE ART will soon perish the moment TRUE ARTISTS come out of hiding and speak of the love of art again.
Those who restrain Desire, do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained.
William Blake
Everyone makes marks all their lives. We speak of making our mark. From all the words we scrawl down on paper to what is left behind when our shoes scrape the cement we walk on. Everyone marks every day of his or her life. Everyone makes marks but a TRUE ARTIST attempts to make unique markings while a mere artist thinks of only technique and a non artist thinks anything they make is art. It is said that art cannot be measured yet it can. Before the modern era of art and the everything is art declarations of the lifeless copy and paste Post-Modernism of today masters used the Golden Ratio = 1.61803399 to measure TRUE ART and nature. All of natures patterns follow the natural flow patterns of water, even our bodies. The most unique of these natural flow patterns 99.9 % of the time are in the proportion of the Golden Ratio or Golden Mean. It is not a mere art or mathematical technique created for the realism of the old masters to enslave all creators into prescribed idealism. The best markings of the best abstract modern masters can be measured in Phi Ratio as well, why is that? And these creators didnt necessarily take out their compass to measure either. They didnt have to, it is in our nature, we are nature. No amount of magical thinking and cultural indoctrination and propaganda can refute the fact that some marks are better than others. How can all markings be equal? Why should we pretend? Artists create works of art with lines and shapes. Do we really believe everything everyone makes in the name of art is art much less TRUE ART? Who made it the law that this was not to be discussed? Are some markings not better than others? If everything is art nothing is art. So let them keep their sanctioned term art and let us reach for TRUE ART. Unique markings are the markings of TRUE ART and nature. As Magus Will Taylor says, Mark it well.
Just that not keeping up certain standing; leaving the so- called civilized world of progress for what it is, namely, a delusion. Do I say this because I despise culture? On the contrary; I consider and respect as civilization the real human feelings, life in harmony with nature. I ask: What makes me the better Man?

About Architecture for Humanity's work in Haiti:
Architecture for Humanity has been responding to the January 12th earthquake in Haiti, which caused major damage and a loss of life in the hundreds of thousands. We are raising funds to support efforts in the rebuilding of affected areas. Our efforts will focus on providing professional services to support the local community organizations and NGO's who will be working to rebuild. Work has begun creating a rebuilding center to aid in long-term reconstruction of housing and civic infrastructure. Understanding the precarious and irreplaceable nature of education, the school reconstruction program seeks to get children quickly back to school in new classrooms.
Additionally, AfH is overseeing the creation of a concise construction manual introducing techniques and safe practices for building Haiti-specific, earthquake- and hurricane-resistant structures.
